On October 7th Scott Weber, Peaceinvest’s President and CEO contributed to a vibrant discussion at the CCIG event on “Developing Socially Sustainable Business” which focused on the human side of ESG. Scott emphasized how reducing inequality and exclusion in society is good for peace and essential for economic prosperity:
“When you design investments with the intention of sowing cohesion between your stakeholders and their society you are proactively lowering risk which is why we believe it is more profitable to build value into society than it is to extract it ” said Scott during his intervention.
Scott was joined by Dorothee Baumann-Pauly, Director of the Geneva Center for Business and Human Rights who emphasized how investments in the human side of business generate high returns for reputation and performance. Natalya Yemchenko, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer at SCM Group also highlighted how investing in the social dimension of business generates partnerships and strengthens corporate resilience, even in times of war.
